FAQ

What is Poker Boss?

Poker Boss is an online ledger for your home cash game, keeping it organized from start to finish. One person tracks who's playing and buy-ins while everyone else just plays. Players can follow along live to see the game status, final results, and their payment links. At the end of the night, the host enters each player's chip total, and Poker Boss calculates every player's net result and a settle-up plan with the fewest payments possible.

Players do not need to exchange money before the game or interrupt play to buy more chips. If using the generated payment links, players also do not need to bring cash or make change at the end of the night. Settling up becomes faster, simpler, and just a tap away.

Poker Boss was designed by longtime poker players with decades of experience hosting home games.

Does the app handle real money or payments?

No. Poker Boss helps the host track who is playing, buy-ins, and chip totals, then helps players settle up at the end. It does not move money. Payments happen outside the app using each player's preferred payment method. Payment links on the site open Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal with the correct payee and amount filled in; players review and send the payment themselves.

Is Poker Boss for tournaments?

No. It’s designed for cash games, sometimes called ring games, where players buy in, buy more chips, and cash out when the night ends. It does not model tournament structures, blind levels, payouts by place, or elimination brackets.

Who needs to sign in with Google?

Only the host needs a Google account. The host is the player using the site to mark who is playing, log buy-ins, and enter final chip counts. Everyone else can follow along with a join code or invite link without signing up.

How do other players join?

Other players do not need an account or to sign in. They tap "Follow Along" and enter the join code, or open the invite link the host shares. Buy-ins and results update live in spectator mode. Spectators can also enter their own Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal handles on the join page so settle-up payment links are ready for them and the host does not have to enter them for everyone.

How does settling up work?

When the game ends, the host enters everyone's chip values, then Poker Boss totals who is up or down and figures out the fewest payments needed to settle everyone up. Payment links (Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal) are generated to speed things up. Think of it like Splitwise, but built for poker nights.

How do the payment links work?

After results are calculated, Poker Boss builds a pay link for each settlement payment — payee and amount pre-filled. If the payee uses Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal, the matching button opens that app when installed; the player reviews and sends the payment. If some players use none of these apps, they can settle with cash or another preferred payment method.

Is my game data private?

Each host’s data is tied to their account and protected so only the right people can see it. Players only see games they have joined, and hosts only see their own players, groups, and history.
